Will I be able to work professionally and open my own business by receiving KBI certificates of completion?

- Kosti Beauty Institute provides accredited certification. There is no government licensing required for Nail Technicians or Aestheticians. Our reputation and quality of training is recognized and provides the students with excellent training and continued educational support. Yes your certificate received from Kosti Beauty Institute is recognized - and known by many professionals, manufacturers and beauty suppliers. I have been in the industry as an educator and award winner since the late 1980's and began as an instructor for the Cosmetology program at St. Clair College Windsor. To open a business in the City you would need to register a business name, and pay for that 'Business' license. That is all that is required - but you can research more details online by doing a search to that effect - or on the City of Windsor website for more details to operating a business - but that has nothing to do with a makeup artistry certificate. Only Hairdressers have to comply and be licensed by the government. In response to your question I have copied the listing from the Canadian directory on licensing procedures: QUOTE FROM http://www.beautytech.com/reciprocity/recip_ca.htm - only Hairdressing is a licensed profession/career in Canada. Aesthetics, Makeup Artistry and even Nail Technician is not licensed. See this quote from the Canada registry below: Ontario Nail Technician: No licensing
Hair Cutting: Hair stylists/cosmetologists ARE licensed in Ontario. 1500 hours at an accredited school or community college, (practical and theory curriculum) followed by a 2000 hour apprenticeship in a salon, then the provincial licensing exam. All are required to become a hair stylist.
Esthetics: No licensing Ministry of Education and Training/Apprenticeship Srvcs.
